Text
The catalog was published on the occasion of the exhibition Kerstin Cmelka: Art and Life Form (6.8.2013 – 7.25.2013) at Künstlerhaus, Halle für Kunst & Medien.
The monograph on Kerstin Cmelka moves from her early experimental films through photographic reworkings of film stills, ad images and production shots to her performances, which have become known as microdramas. An interest in filigree subversion and an exploration of work evincing fractures are posited at the centre of Kerstin Cmelka’s eclectic, multimediatic re-stagings of historical material taken from film, art, and theatre.
