Text

The catalog was published on the occasion of the exhibition Florian Hecker / John McCracken (1.31.20153.5.2015) at Künstlerhaus, Halle für Kunst & Medien.

The publication documents the attempt to survey the main white cube exhibition space as an experiential space with a special view to the differences and hierarchies of seeing and hearing by a dialogically complementary dual showing of the German artist and computer composer Florian Hecker and the American sculptor John McCracken. The exhibition defined a framework, where a shifting of the boundary and contact zones in which sculpture and sound interacted could be immediately aesthetically experienced within a space and the visitor could become sensitized to the conditions, qualities, and intensities of the two mediatic forms.
