This painting workshop with Victoria focuses on approaching painting intuitively, allowing images to emerge, and letting go of preconceptions about what constitutes “good” or “correct” painting. Inspired by Katherine Bernhardt’s visual world, spontaneous ideas evolve into participants’ own visual worlds and paintings.
In a collaborative drawing exercise, folded sheets of paper are passed around and intuitively filled with motifs from advertising, everyday life, or pop culture. The sketches are then transferred to larger formats and further developed using pencils, markers, and diluted acrylic paint. The focus is on color, layering, and the fundamentals of compositional structure.
There is no right or wrong: The workshop invites participants to take spontaneous ideas seriously and, in the spirit of Katherine Bernhardt, to become “inspired amateurs.”
