What Is Epistemology? A Simple Introduction to Oswald Wiener’s Thought

One reason why Oswald Wiener’s ideas have not reached a wider audience is that, for people rooted in everyday life, the term ​“epistemology” remains vague at best. A working definition of the term, however, is not only a prerequisite for a satisfying engagement with Wiener’s oeuvre, but also for concepts derived from it, such as ​“dandy” or ​“psychology of thought.” Therefore, starting from simple facts of perception (“illusions”) and small thought experiments, I will attempt an introduction using as few technical terms as possible — if at all none.
