Curator’s tour with Franca Zitta 

The exhibition A.rtificial I.ntrospection O. (A.I.O.) examines thinking, perception, and subjectivity within the tension between introspection, cybernetics, and artificial intelligence. Its point of departure is the work of the Austrian writer, cognitive psychologist, and cyberneticist Oswald Wiener, whose genuine thinking since the 1950s critically navigated between these fields while systematically resisting institutional appropriation.

Franca Zitta offers insights into the exhibition through a tour focusing on the works of a younger generation of artists. Their practices operate at the intersection of perception, technology, media and socially constructed realities, even if they do not directly refer to Oswald Wiener’s thought. They address how technological systems, media images, political narratives and digital infrastructures shape and transform perception, memory and subjectivity. In doing so, connections emerge with Oswald Wiener’s ideas, particularly with his concepts of the bio-adapter and introspection.
