In this workshop, all participants work simultaneously on a large roll of paper — there are no individual workstations or personal works. From the outset, the image emerges as a collaborative space. Inspired by Susanne Wenger’s approach to batik, this workshop is less about technique and more about a way of thinking: images develop slowly, layer by layer, through condensation, covering, and exposure. Themes such as loss, resistance, or violence are not explained, but reveal themselves through the process itself, through the interplay of material, time, and collective decisions.

The workshop is divided into several phases. First, everyone fills the surface with lines, symbols, or shapes, making the image denser. Then, certain areas are deliberately blocked or covered to stop the image from growing. In the next step, the further work responds to these restrictions, adapts to obstacles, and finds new ways forward. In the end, some coverings are removed again, and the traces of earlier decisions remain visible — irrevocable and full of history. The result is a collective image that shows the process of working together and the power of layering and limiting. It is a work that is not claimed individually, but rather makes the shared experience and time of the group visible.

No prior knowledge necessary, the workshop is free of charge.
