Diego Bianchi’s preoccupations with performance, physicality, and consumer chains of the late capitalist era, have led him to collaborate repeatedly with fashion designers, including names such as Balenciaga. Bianchi also creates collections of his own, both for his sculptures and for himself, by recycling and sewing together clothing to create new designs. His sometimes dystopian-looking figures often wear Nike and other branded shoes. A connection to fashion is always there, and his exhibition Errores Irreales at HALLE FÜR KUNST Steiermark is no exception.

In fact, both Diego Bianchi and Celina Eceiza came from a background in arts and crafts before they began creating spatially expansive installations. Eceiza moved from sewing her own clothes to experimenting with dyeing, bleaching, and batik-dyeing fabrics, which she then used to create increasingly large installations, as realized here with Ofrenda: a soft museum” that also plays with space and physicality.

In response to the work of these two Argentine artists, who not only refer to the manufacture of clothing, fashion, and textiles, but also to themes such as physicality, fragility, and interactions between object and subject, the students of the Graz Fashion School will design a collection to be presented in a fashion show at the HALLE FÜR KUNST Steiermark. After the show, the garments will be exhibited in the foyer of the Kunsthalle until January 182026.
