Italian composer and sound artist Simone Borghi (aka Morning Séance) is particularly known for his atmospheric electronic music. Morning Séance combines constant variations with complex, repetitive patterns that lack a clear beginning and end. For him, this is a fundamental compositional principle that avoids mechanical combinations or overly obvious rhythms. The result is a flowing web of timbres and harmonies that is constantly evolving. Recently, after creating a live set based on the sounds of his own sleep, Morning Séance performed also an eight-hour overnight concert for sleeping listeners.

His atmospheric, yet at times dystopian and cryptic soundscapes provide sonic support for Diego Bianchi’s exhibition Errores Irreales and its large-scale stage design on the upper floor of the HALLE FÜR KUNST, populated by Bianchi’s humorous, yet at times dystopian-looking sculptures in the space. Additionally, Borghi’s agglomeration of musical textures also seems to harmonize with the millions of threads that Celina Eceiza has used for her exhibition Ofrenda. With her textile installation, Eceiza expressly seeks to exchange with other artists; her soft museum” pays tribute to Argentine modernist artists through painted fabric collages displayed almost like fan posters. Furthermore, it is essential for Eceiza to address not only the sense of sight, but also touch and hearing, thus creating an expanded space of experience within the institution. As such, Morning Séance will perform within Eceiza’s organically inspired installation, thus bringing her Gesamtkunstwerk to life.

Both Diego Bianchi and Celina Eceiza are Argentine artists dealing with physicality and the pressure exerted on bodies, but also with the awareness that arises through interactions and encounters with other bodies and spaces such as consumer chains. Against this backdrop, Morning Séance’s musical performance will similarly interrogate experiences of physicality through its musical performance, taking the immersive quality of Eceiza’s metabolic soft museum” to a new level.
