Karaōke
Café Rösselmühl
Get Together
Rösselmühlgasse 12, Graz, Austria

In the spirit of Louise Giovanelli’s inspiration, which she found in the curtains of the Working Men’s Clubs and which she portrayed as places of ecstasy, pleasure and a means of escape from everyday life, we would also like to stop off together at a local establishment in Graz, which has a similar character, and sing karaōke together.
The so-called Working Men’s Clubs emerged primarily in the industrial north of England among the traditional working class, but also in Ireland and Australia. They not only served as places of leisure and education, entertainment and social cohesion, where, among other things, bingo was played, but they are also regarded as the cradle of British pop culture. They offered and still offer local musicians, amateurs and cover bands a stage, often at grassroots level. The clubs, of which there were around 4,000 with over four million members at their peak in the 1970s, are often seen as places of retreat from a tough everyday life.
The situation is similar with local bars and pubs in Graz, which, as places of entertainment, are able to distract from the adversities of everyday life. Following the example of the British Working Men’s Clubs, we would like to start the Friday evening with drinks and karaōke together with you.
We will meet at the HALLE FÜR KUNST Steiermark at 6 pm and together will walk to Café Rösselmühl. For those who come later, we will meet directly on site at Rösselmühlgasse 12.
