John Waters – Pink Flamingos

B‑movies are, as the name suggests, second-rate films that were often produced with little financial means and, as is often claimed, are so bad that they are good again.

In the last two weeks of the exhibition RIDICULOUSLY YOURS! Art, Awkwardness and Enthusiasm, the film series at KIZ RoyalKino Graz aims to illustrate how supposed failures can become classics that accompany us as cult films decades later. Be it without a comprehensible plot, offensive and provocative subject matter, offensive bad taste, tragic-comic narrative, idiotic-humorous narrative style, despite — or precisely because of — these films are today a cult of film history and a great source of inspiration for the entire exhibition as well as an important figure of thought for the entire curatorial idea.

Curated by Jörg Heiser and Cristina Ricupero in cooperation with the KIZ RoyalKino Graz, the Austrian Film Museum Vienna and Neue Galerie Graz.
