Laura Wiesböck

Lecture (Online)

The presentation deals with the societal impact of the COVID19 pandemic and highlights new and strengthened inequality structuring attributions and exclusions. It also outlines potential effects of the ongoing labor market and economic crisis on democratic satisfaction in Austria and points to the impact of political crisis management on institutional trust. In her current research, Wiesböck describes work realities of female cleaners in private households in Vienna. This group is particularly vulnerable as they combine inequalities such as gender and migration background, operate in the unprotected setting of private housing, and have had limited employment opportunities due to the distancing measures.
