The exhibition Europe: Ancient Future presents an extensive selection of international contemporary positions that focus on the history of ideas, myths, values and ruptures of a – currently rather reserved – united Europe, which is being examined beyond its economic and political developments as a hotly debated cultural-historical project with utopian potential.

The Open Call Eurotopia. What is Your Europe? is meant to be an extension of the exhibition Europe: Ancient Future, curated by Sandro Droschl which took place from March 1st until the 1st of May. In the frame of the Open Call in cooperation with nextmuseum.io we received a multiplicity of submissions from international artists to the topics of Europe, Transnationality and european reality of life. The eleven selected contributions will be shown via screen in the atrium of the house and will be provided via the online journal of HALLE FÜR KUNST Steiermark to the visitors until the end of the exhibition.

Concerning the selection of the artistic works, the focus on the question what is your Europe?” has been essential.

The Open Call took place in cooperation with the digital platform nextmuseum.io. Nextmuseum is a digital community project of the Museum Ulm and the NRW-Forum Düsseldorf. In the online talk today, the team of HALLE FÜR KUNST Steiermark steps in conversation with Alina Fuchte (NRW Forum) and Marina Bauernfeind (Museum Ulm), as well as with the selected artists of the Open Call to give final insights in the shared project and into the exhibition Europe: Ancient Future
