die Arbeiter, 2022

The next work presents a further line of connection to the previous room. In die Arbeiter (the workers) (2022) we can quickly identify a second version of a work already seen. This duplicate was made in exactly the same way as the first version — the found image was reproduced as a digital print and then the traces of waste paint were overpainted by hand. The act of copying, repeating, and reproducing, which was already a theme addressed in the first reproduction in the first piece entitled die Arbeiter (the workers) (2022), gains a further level in this duplicate. Digital technology makes it possible to create an exact replica of the first work, and it is only in the detail of the traces added by hand that it might be possible to identify small deviations, if only the two works were notseparated in different rooms, making it impossible to compare them directly. Here the idea of the copy as the source of fault or error becomes a further strategy within this exhibition.
