The lecture is aimed at artists and other groups of people who are interested in an in-depth introduction to the world of NFTs. The art agent and lecturer Anikó van Nie talks about the basic idea of NFTs and shows how they can be implemented in the art industry. Relevant aspects such as the NFT platforms, who is selling NFTs and the financial structures behind the technology will be addressed. How revolutionary are NFTs? How do NFTs connect to the physical art world? And what innovative strategies can be crystallized in dealing with them?

Anikó van Nie
is an internationally operating art agent working for various art galleries, art auction houses and private art collectors. Van Nie studied art and business with a specialization in art and design management at the University of the Arts Utrecht. Among other things, she worked as an art auctioneer for Park West Gallery, Southfield, Michigan; and later founded her own art mediation platform (www.anikovannie.art), working with artists from Central and (South) Eastern Europe. Van Nie currently lives and works in Austria, where she organizes art exhibitions and offers workshops in art sales, design management, and implementation of new technologies such as online auctions and NFTs in the art industry.

The exhibition A.rtificial I.ntrospection O. (A.I.O.) explores questions of thought, perception, and subjectivity at the intersection of introspection, cybernetics, and artificial intelligence. Its point of departure is the work of the Austrian writer, cognitive psychologist, and cybernetician Oswald Wiener (1935 – 2021), whose genuine thinking since the 1950s critically navigated between these fields while systematically resisting institutional appropriation.

In her research and in the volume Aus dem Blickfeld (Out of Sight), co-edited with Heimo Halbrainer, Karin Maria Schmidlechner demonstrates that the lived realities of Styrian women during the Nazi era and the postwar period were diverse and ambivalent. Hence, she broadens the scholarly discourse on their daily lives while simultaneously deconstructing common narratives such as that of the conformist woman or the so-called “rubble woman.”
