Morning Séance
alias Simone Borghi
Video
Italian composer and musician Simone Borghi, alias Morning Séance, is known for his atmospheric electronic music, which is characterized by flowing and constantly changing sound structures without a clear beginning or end. His music avoids mechanical rhythms and creates a continuously changing soundscape. At HALLE FÜR KUNST Steiermark, his music accompanied Celina Eceiza’s exhibition Ofrenda in a performative presentation. Borghi’s soundscapes harmoniously complemented Eceiza’s textile, thread-based spatial artwork. Eceiza understands her “soft museum” as an open and collaborative place where different senses — especially hearing and feeling — are addressed. Morning Séances’ performance in Eceiza’s metabolic red room activated the work sonically and, in a sense, made it vibrate. This allowed the audience to experience physicality and spatiality in a new way. Both artists address the relationship between body, space, and perception in an expanded space of experience.
