Evelyn Plaschg
Concert
Video
As part of the Viscous City exhibition, the artist Evelyn Plaschg presented a concert of her music, which is closely linked to her paintings. This video excerpt offers a glimpse into her atmospheric sound performances, which blend flute, vocals, modulated field recordings, and electronic synthesizer elements. These sound sources originate from everyday situations and travels, creating a multilayered, emotionally charged composition. Her keen sense of musical structure is particularly striking; her singing alternates between polyphonic melodies and spoken passages that form tonal narrative interludes. Her pieces are multifaceted works of art. Between delicate piano improvisations and harsh industrial sound textures, she creates musical miniatures reminiscent of urban narratives. Her compositions are complex and experimental, deeply rooted in a variety of traditions, from Baroque canon to folk, ambient, noise, and psychedelic electronica.
